A classic Brazilian gemada made with egg yolk, milk, and sugar. Creamy, comforting, and ready in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh egg yolk
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk (240ml)
  • Cinnamon powder, to taste
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place the egg yolk and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Beat for 1 to 2 minutes until pale and creamy.
  3. Heat the milk until small bubbles form around the edges.
  4. Do not boil the milk.
  5. Slowly pour hot milk into the egg mixture while whisking.
  6. Mix until smooth and frothy.
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh eggs and whole milk. Serve immediately and do not reheat.
