  • 200 g kataifi pastry (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 100 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 200 g sweetened cream cheese or pistachio paste
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)
  • 150 g dark or milk chocolate, melted
  • 2 tbsp crushed pistachios or almonds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Spread kataifi pastry on a baking sheet and drizzle with melted butter. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden and crispy.
  3. Mix cream cheese or pistachio paste with powdered sugar until smooth.
  4. Line a rectangular dish with parchment paper. Layer half of the toasted kataifi as the base.
  5. Spread filling evenly on top. Add the remaining kataifi as the top layer and press gently.
  6. Pour melted chocolate over the top and smooth it out evenly.
  7. Refrigerate for 1 hour to set. Slice into bars and garnish with crushed pistachios or almonds.
  8. Serve chilled with Arabic coffee or tea.
